Four Dead, 16 Injured in Fort Hood Shooting

The suspected gunman is dead.

Four people, including the suspect, are dead and 16 are injured after a shooting at Fort Hood military base Wednesday afternoon.

The military base is in the center of Texas near Waco and about 150 miles south of Dallas and Forth Worth.

Officials said the gunman died from a self-inflicted wound. The injured have been transported to a local hospital.

This shooting comes a few years after the 2009 mass shooting in Fort Hood that left 13 people dead and 30 wounded.

It was the deadliest attack on a domestic military installation in U.S. history. The gunman, Nidal Hassan, was convicted of premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder. Hassan was sentenced to death.

Residents in the area said it's scary that a shooting happened on the base again.

President Obama said the government will get to the bottom of what happened at the Texas army base.
