After eight long months, baseball is ready to crown a new champion. The winner of tonight's game will be named World Series titleholder. Although their team was eliminated early in the postseason, many Dodgers fans all across Los Angeles are still invested in the outcome of the game between the Kansas City Royals and the San Francisco Giants

"The Giants being this close again is terrible," says USC senior George Wasserman, "I wish I could wake up and have this all be a terrible dream." Wasserman isn't alone in wanting the Giants to lose more than he wants the Royals to win. Kevin Fohrer, a senior who roots for the Angels, says, "it's not that I'm a Royals fan, I'm just pulling to see a Northern California team lose. I can't stand Northern California fans."

USC junior Britton Bentley has a more lighthearted take on the Series, "(The Royals) are almost the same colors as the Dodgers, so I just pretend we're still in it" he says.

While Dodgers fans have a longstanding rivalry with the Giants, Wasserman does acknowledge there's a part of him that genuinely wants to see the Royals win. "They've been out of the playoffs for so long. It would help make the end of the season at least a little bittersweet for Dodgers fans," he says. Wasserman can't help adding one more jab toward the Dodgers' rivals up North, "I think (Royals) fans will be going nuts tonight, but really I just want to see (Giants pitcher Madison) Bumgarner fall apart if they bring him in. I can't stand that guy."

It turns out, even when their team isn't playing, Dodgers fans can't help but root for the Giants to fail.
