USC Vice Provost Speaks On Rini Sampath And Racism On Campus
ATVN's Alexa Liacko spoke with Vice Provost Ainsley Carry about racism on campus and what USC will do next to address the issue.
The conversation started when USG President Rini Sampath used Facebook to share her experience with racism. Sampath said she was called a racial epithet on the Row while walking home with a friend. Her post quickly gained the attention of USC students and administration.
USC Dean of Religious Life Varun Soni responded Monday, calling for racism on campus to be addressed. Monday night Vice Provost Ainsley Carry sent an email to the student body regarding the incident and the need to discuss it as a campus.
Carry told ATVN that the university is concerned about the incident and hopes it will start conversations about our campus climate.
