Villaraigosa and Brown Urge Yes on Prop 30

Villaraigosa and Brown rallied up support for Prop 30.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Governor Jerry Brown held a rally Tuesday to urge voters to vote Yes on Proposition 30.

"On November 6, Americans have an opportunity to provide critical support for our public school," said Villaraigosa.

"We shouldn't be forced to face the tough decisions of whether we should fire a teacher or order new books for our students next year," said a supporter of Prop 30, "but that is the decision we've been forced to make over and over in the last four years."

Prop 30 would give more funding for California Higher Education and prevent funds from being cut from education.

A "No" on Prop 30 would lead to state spending reductions primarily to education programs.

Governor Jerry Brown advocated that this measure holds "deep importance to the students, kids and the families of California."
