A new bus shuttle service, beginning later this spring, will connect the La Brea Avenue Metro Station on the Exposition Line to LAX.

The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners set Wednesday a one-way fare of $7 for the newest route of the  FlyAway bus service. The Expo Line-LAX shuttle will make 18 trips per day.

During the first six months of the new service, travelers will pay a discounted rate of $6 one-way.

The Expo Line costs $1.50 per trip, making the total cost of this new mode of travel $7.50-$8.50.

Other transportation options are available to USC-area residents.

USC Travel Management Services has a special deal with Prime Time Shuttle which offfers USC students, faculty and staff with a discounted rate of $13.50 for the shared ride van service that takes travelers to and from LAX and serves all of Los Angeles, including the University Park area.

Airport officials said running the Expo Line-LAX service costs $267,000 year.

The airport commissioners also approved the increase of one-way fare between the Van Nuys bus terminal and LAX from $7 to $8. The fare increase will take effect July 1. The revenue is expected to reduce the operating budget for the Van Nuys terminal from $531,000 to $168,000 per year.
