Northridge Kidnapping Suspect Arrested in Mexico

A fugitive charged in the kidnapping of a 10-year-old Northridge girl was arrested in Mexico, the FBI said Tuesday.
Tobias Summers, 30, was taken into custody by Mexican authorities. He has been charged with kidnapping, burglary and nearly three dozen counts of sexual assault.
Summers was found at a Mexican drug rehabilitation center after the FBI received tips from agents in San Diego.
Earlier this month, Summers was charged with 37 felonies stemming from the abduction.
The victim disappeared from her Northridge home in the early morning hours on March 27. Her mother had discovered she was missing around 3 a.m. when she went to check on her. She was found about 12 hours later in front of a nearby coffee shop. Police say she was wearing different clothes than those she was reported to be wearing when she disappeared.
Summers is not known as a registered sex offender, although he did have an arrest for battery in 2009 that involved child annoyance.
Police had arrested 29-year-old Daniel Martinez on suspicion of being an accomplice to Summers on March 31. He has been charged with one count each of kidnapping and first-degree burglary. Summers had remained at large since Martinez's arrest.
