Two Men Charged in USC Grad Slayings to Stand Trial
A Los Angeles Superior Court Judge ruled Monday that there is enough evidence for a trial against the two men charged in the shooting deaths of two Chinese graduate students.
"I believe that the evidence more than supports the findings," said Judge Stephen Marcus.
Bryan Barnes and Javier Bolden are being tried for two counts of murder and attempted murder. Prosecuters will later decide whether to seek the death penalty.
Students Ming Qu and Ying Wu were shot to death on April 11th, 2012 near University Park Campus. Both were 23-year-old graduate students from China studying electrical engineering at the Viterbi School of Engineering.
The woman was found slumped over in the front passenger seat of a BMW while the male was lying on the steps of a nearby house. The car was in the road, away from the curb, and had its windows blown out on both the passenger and driver's sides.
[UPDATE]: Barnes and Bolden's arraignment for murder charges is scheduled for November 7th, 2013.
